test during pregnancy

I start a nursing class in August. One of the requirements is that I take a test for TB. What does this involve? Is it safe during pregnancy??
Just wondering since I’m 4 weeks along.

Its safe. I had to get one for a home health care job, only I wasn’t pregnant at the time. Anyway — I called the health department to find out when I could get one, and they asked me what it was for. I told them my job, and they told me I couldnt get one through them unless I was pregnant. Which, I thought was really weird. But ya know… But yes its safe.

I never did get one so I’m not sure exactly how they test you for it…

You’ll be fine, and if you have any fears you should contact your doctor and ask. More than likely they will tell you the go ahead on it. But get used to being tested, because in the beginning and the end of your pregnancy they will test you for HIV/AIDS. And make sure you do not have gestational diabeties around your 18th-25th week. And much more blood taken in between those!

            Good Luck!
