Is this a routine test, or is it only administered if sugars show up in your urine?

Every woman has to take the 1 hour glucose tolerance test. If you fail that one, you’ll be asked to repeat a three hour test.
It is not routine. They do it if there is cause.
yes!!!its important
this is a routine test
Routine test
It’s a routine test
i think it’s a routine test, you have to fast 12 hours before you take it.
I’ve done this test with every one of my childre and I have no history of diabetes anywhere in my family
It’s a routine test for every woman.
Doing one test is routine.
My dr told me it was a routine test for ALL pregnant women because if it goes un noticed it could harm the baby and the mother.
It’s routine.
I’m almost positive it’s just a routine test. My doctor never mentioned any problem with my urine and I had to take the test.
It’s routine, they need to make sure you don’t develop gestational diabetes.
no it’s not!!!
if you’re not a woman that is….
I think it is pretty standard that every woman take it to make sure diabetes isn’t a problem. It is something that should be detected early to keep the mom diet under control to where the baby won’t get too big in the womb.
Yes everyone has to take it, I have never heard of anyone not having to. Generally it is done around 28 weeks. If you’re lucky you may be able to take the 1 hour test, but I personally have had to do the 3 hour test with all 3 of my pregnancies. My doctor told me the reason was that they like to be on the safe side and give the longer test to be sure on the result. Also, I never had any sugars show up in my urine. Best of luck to ya
yes but you can also elect to not do it as well ,it is kinda of a must but alot of women opt not to get it!
Yes.. it is a routine test. However, if you are at a higher risk for GD, you will get tested early in term. (Like me!)
It is a routine test. Even I had to take it and I have low blood sugar. The stuff you drink tastes like sugary soda, then you wait an hour and they draw your blood.
ACTUALLY…. this test IS a routine.. BUT you can refuse it if you do not want it.
I don’t know why someone wouldnt want it b/c it’s going to ultimately let the doctor know if he needs to treat you for gestational diabetes.
It is very beneficial to know if you have GD or not b/c ur baby can get WAY to big to deliver b/c ur baby is absorbing ALL the sugar you eat.
GET a TEST…. unless there is some specific reason u don’t want it.. and I’d like to know wat that is..
Yes this a routine test.
It is a routine test. It is really not that big of a deal. You have to drink some disgusting tasting sugar water and the after an hour they draw blood to check your sugar level. Some women will fail the first test and have to go back for a 3 hour test, but it is pretty common to fail the first test and pass the second. If you do have gestational diabetes then it is really important to watch your diet.
It’s a routine test. Usually the 1 hour test is given at 28 weeks. If there is a history of diabetes in your family your doctor will check during your first set of labs. My doctor told me that I didn’t have to fast but just eat a couple of hours before and not a big meal with lots of carbs or sugars because those can change the results. If that test comes back high you will have to take a 3 hour glucose test.
