pregnancy spotting

For the last few days I’ve been lightly spotting, it started a few days after I was supposed to get my period. But I’ve been also having signs that I may be pregnant, sickness, cravings, and such. I wanted to know if I take a pregnancy test, will it give me a wrong reading if I test before the spotting stops?

spotting MAY indicate miscarriage. you can test and if there’s any hcg detected it’ll show positive… i’d wait until spotting has stopped for 1 week to test again either way though

            best wishes

No, the spotting will have no effect on the test results. The test measures the level of a hormone called beta human chorionic gonadotropin (HcG) that exists in the urine. This hormone level rises as the pregnancy progresses and peaks at about 5 months’ gestation. Should the pregnancy end, then the levels will gradually drop to an undetectable level. The test is very sensitive and can detect HcG before the first missed period, so if you are pregnant, the test should be positive. Spotting is not uncommon in early pregnancy, but if the bleeding increases, it could be a sign of a miscarriage.
